The month of February is National Children's Dental Health Month. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentists recommends that a child see a dentist for their first visit by age one, or six months after their first tooth erupts, whichever happens first. At Stevens Family Dental, we love seeing patients of all ages and encourage you to bring in your children for regular check-ups.
We have found that children who are familiar with the office and our team from a young age are more comfortable coming into the office when there is a more emergent situation, like trauma to a tooth. It helps when the emergency dental visit isn't the first dental visit to our dental office.
At our children's dental check-up visits, we review home-care tips with parents and kids (age-appropriate). We also polish teeth, place fluoride and take x-rays if warranted. If you have any questions about what the first dental visit would be like for your child, don't hesitate to contact our office.

Happy New Year! We hope that your year is off to a great start.
We want to congratulate the winner of our food drive contest. Mr. Jack donated multiple items to our food drive and won our raffle prize of a $50 gift card to Texas Roadhouse. Overall, we had over 135 items donated. Thanks to all who contributed.
We are back to our normal business hours and will be open both Martin Luther King Day, as well as President's Day.
We look forward to serving you all this next year and can't wait to see your smiling faces at the office!

It's Back-To-School this month. Teachers and children are gearing up for the start of a fresh, new school year. Backpacks-check! Pencils-check! Clean and healthy teeth-CHECK!
This month we are focusing on prevention, which is not only applicable to children, but adults as well. As a reminder, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentists recommend that a child have their first dental exam within six months of the first tooth erupting, or no later than their first birthday. We love seeing your children and grandchildren at our office!
Having children visit the dental office early on helps establish positive experiences with the dental team. It also gets them accustomed to the office and our equipment. This is especially important in the case of a dental emergency, where a child traumatizes a tooth and may require an exam and x-rays. If they are familiar with our office, it is oftentimes much easier to get the needed information to assess the situation.
We wish everyone their best school year yet and look forward to seeing you at the office!
